I’m a list person. The notes on my phone and in my journals contain many different lists I’ve written. Lists of names, places, books, activities, coffee shops, dream jobs, people to write letters to, wishlists, gift lists, bucket lists, to do lists…. You name it, I most likely have a list.
But my favorite list of all is a happy list.
I think of it as a thank-you prayer
It makes me happy just thinking of all the things that make me happy. And I’ll come back and read them and get the fuzzies all over again.
here’s why you should write them too
You have a wonderful day, you’re floating on air, and nothing is stopping your joy.
But then tomorrow life throws you a rotten tomato and the things that evoke happiness are few.
When you make it a habit to count your blessings your outlook is bound to change. A hard day won’t seem as dreary and your soul will feel lighter.
To begin, you could set a reminder for every day or week. Hopefully it’ll soon become second nature and you’ll be writing them left and right.
A few ideas
- make a note on your phone
- jot in a cute journal
- edit on a photo from the day
- make a happy picture collage or video
- sketch or paint your list
I love reading mine months later and being reminded of those happy moments.

the northern lights
Since my trip to Alaska eight years ago didn’t yield any, I was extra delighted to see them in Oregon.
It’s an awesome experience that I’ll never forget.

I was so delighted to find this in the archives of my old, poor quality camera.

coffee and a letter
I sat in the yard with an iced lavender latte and a letter from Shana. The trio of coffee, letters, and sunshine is beyond amazing.
