adventures in the Ozarks

Monday

I was delighted to be able to come and see my ten week old nephew in Arkansas.
My journey there was kinda average, but still an experience. It was my second time flying alone, and I greatly enjoyed it ; )

Mom drove me to the airport for my flight departing at one o’clock. I was surprised that it wasn’t busier, being a holiday & a Monday. But I was quickly through security, with time to get a matcha latte and wait at the gate a while.

I landed in Northwest Arkansas at sunset, and my brother and his wife were there to pick me up.
I had gate-checked my bag in Sac, so I had to wait for it. I waited and waited. That was the only time I was worried 😂 It finally came around the carousel and away I went.

Their home is delightfully cute and cozy ✨

Carla took this picture on her bachelorette trip 🤍Isn’t it so perfect?

the winter tree candle made me excited for Christmas

•watched fireworks with Carla’s family

The lightning and thunder competed against the fireworks for a bit. Then pouring rain pressed us to leave early. I was excited to experience a Midwestern “real” thunderstorm again, and I think the residents were excited for rain.

today

•arose early in the morning to leave for the airport

The flight was delayed a little, and when I went up to gate-check my bag. The sweet southern lady saw that I had a short layover, and then asked if I was traveling alone. I guess there are advantages to traveling alone, because she upgraded me to Main Cabin Plus.

I’m so glad she did because I had to run to my next gate and I made a couple wrong turns in the process. Never before have I been so envious of the people relaxing at their gate with hours to spare.

Anyway, I got there when they were boarding the last couple groups. Wow. Praise God I got on the plane. Then as I buckle up and prepare for takeoff, the voice comes over the intercom saying that something is wrong. Turns out they had to order and replace the altimeter. It took about forty-five minutes until we could prepare for takeoff. I kept myself busy napping, writing a letter, and editing& organizing notes and photos.

HOME!
I really love traveling and all the great experiences, but there’s nothing like landing at home. Especially when the last few months have included lots of running around 😆

Brenda picked me up and now we’re headed to the beach. Yes I’d like to be back to normal , but when you have an opportunity to go to the coast, home can wait. Plus, normal is very overrated.

Thanks a million, Logan and Carla for making sure I had a great time. It was amazing and I hope I can do this again.
Happy Friday,
